1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ is an excellent robot vacuum that comes with a number smart features to make it easier to maintain. The automatic bin emptying feature is one of the most useful features we've seen on an iRobot and it's compatible on both hard floors and carpets. The app walks you through the entire process. It's also simple to use and set up. Another impressive feature is the ability to go back to where it was when we tested it. It did this for 77 minutes in one cleaning before running out of battery.
The i3+ EVO is different from the other robot vacuums we have tested, has a self emptying bin that automatically disposes of debris into an external dirt compartment on the base of its charging once it is full. The i3+ EVO is able to prevent overfilling by a self-emptying bin. However it must be emptied manually at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dustbin can hold 2.4L that will last for four to five cleaning sessions.
Like the i7model, this model also uses the latest floor tracking sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only keep one map, whereas the i7 can store multiple. The i7's map can be used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones but not for the i3+ EVO.
The i3+ EVO is more effective of picking up surface debris when compared to other robovacs we've reviewed, but it is not the best in cleaning edges and corners. It's also less gentle on furniture despite being relatively quiet. It was a bit rough on furniture, since it pushed chairs away. It also made some collisions against the sides of the test bed.
2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro is an excellent choice for expanding your robot vacuum collection or just starting out. It features an elegant design with powerful navigation and effective automation at a reasonable cost. It's the most efficient pound-for pound model on sale right now and even beats some of Roborock's more expensive models in several ways.
This robot is fantastic in cleaning floors that are dirty and its avoidance technology assists it in staying away from furniture legs and other obstacles. It also excels on carpets and scores the highest score on our tests on navigation. The only drawback is that it's more noisy than other models, and doesn't perform as well in our owner-satisfaction and predicted reliability assessments.
The Q5 Pro has a very large 770ml dust bin that means you don't have to empty it as often as some other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240-minute running time is also generous when compared to other 2-in-1 robots that we tested. If the battery is depleted it goes back to its dock and automatically recharges, before starting cleaning where it stopped. You can control the Q5 Pro via the app and also use voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
This is one of the first robots we've seen to incorporate 3D mapping. This, along with other innovations, helped it perform exceptionally well in our tests for vacuuming and mopping test. You can schedule cleanings or create no-go zones. You can also check the battery status. The app is simple to use, though it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit and that feature is scheduled to be added by 2025. As of early November, Apple has updated a footnote on its website to note that this feature is delayed until 2025. HomeKit isn't compatible with other robots, however Siri Shortcuts are.

The model is equipped with an internal dToF LiDAR sensor to map your home and devise efficient cleaning routes. The iMop was highly rated for its coverage and navigation. It also did an excellent job in avoiding obstacles like furniture. It's also able to return to the base station, which is a great feature in the event that it is unable to recharge its battery during cleaning.
The spot cleaning mode allows you to clean a specific area on your floor. It can also be manually programmed to follow a certain path. This is ideal for narrow hallways or stairs. It did a good job of cleaning carpets during our carpet cleaning review however, it had trouble with thicker pile carpets and rug.
